ARTICLE IX - BEREAVEMENT LEAVE

Leave with pay upon the death of a member of an employee's family shall be in conformity with the applicable provisions in the 1990-92 Citywide Agreement and any successor contract, except that the employer will allow an absence of one (1) day with pay upon the death of a grandparent or grandchild. Upon the death of any other near relative not covered by the said Citywide Agreement or this Article, an employee may take bereavement leave to be charged against his/her annual leave balance. If an employee does not then have any annual leave balance, he/she shall be permitted to borrow the necessary time from accrued annual leave.
